Is Acne Contagious Or Not?

One of the most common disorders troubling us now is acne. Even as adults, many people still get acne. Acne affects our self confidence and spoils our looks. Sometimes scars can be left behind, making us self conscious. Can acne, however, be contagious? Should we steer clear of sufferers of acne?
There has to be an agent passed from one person to another person for any condition or disease to be contagious. In ringworm, one person has to pass the fungus on to another person for it to affect them, making it contagious. There is nothing, in acne that can be passed on from one person to another. Acne on our skin cannot be caught or passed to or from others.
Acne Causes
The hormonal excess production of sebum causes acne. Dead skin, hormones and other unknown factors cause a blockage in the gland which traps the sebum from coming out. All of us have bacteria called P.acnes on the skin. It’s when there is an abundance of these bacteria that causes blackheads and whiteheads to inflame and turn into pimples. None of these reasons that cause acne can be passed on; therefore, acne is not contagious.
In order to keep acne away, what do I do?
Avoid stress whenever possible. Consult your doctor about possibilities of preventing acne if you take hormones or are pregnant. Keep your dermis healthy by using AHAs, etc. and wash your face twice a day in order to keep it clean of oils, dirt and dead skin.
