Acne Scarring can have serious effects on a persons self-image and emotional state. Fortunately there have been significant advances in the treatment of acne-related scarring in recent years. It is important to note that nothing will completely heal the majority of scars.

Laser Therapy – Using lasers to treat scars is a new technology, but is one of the most promising options for severe scarring. The lasers remove the scarred skin, and encourage growth of new skin in its place. After treatment, the skin will be pink and swollen for a week or so. During this time, bandages need to be kept over the skin to prevent infection. It takes months for the skin to return to normal, but most people will see less noticeable scars and smoother skin. Laser scar treatment can be quite expensive, however.

Surgical Therapy (Dermabrasion) – This form of scar treatment uses a motorized burr, which usually contains diamond particles. Diamonds are very strong abrasives when in a powder-form. A scab will form once the procedure is completed. Once the wound is healed, a smooth pink layer of new skin will appear. Multiple treatments are often necessary, and each one can cost $1500.

Creams and Gels – There are many topical treatments that claim to reduce the appearance of scars. Some contain Vitamin E and other nutrients. Mederma is a popular brand name. Many people report that it can improve scars in as little as 8 weeks for new scars, or 6 months for older scars. Results with topical ointments like this will vary from person to person.

Collagen Injection – This is a temporary fix, where the patients own body fat or collagen is injected into the scar site. This works well for some people with deep-pitted scars. The material injected serves to raise the skin, and reduce the pitted appearance, and wrinkling from the scar. However, this procedure needs to be repeated every 6 months and can be expensive.br

Scars can be extremely difficult to get rid of, or at least to minimize their appearance; however Keloid scars can often be the hardest to eliminate.

Keloid scars occur when tissue forms a claw-like appearance around an injury site or a scar. Usually, an injured area tends to have an overgrowth of skin and that generally rises up a little from the site and a Keloid often forms around it. You will know if you have a Keloid scar as it has a slightly pink appearance and it is hard to the touch.

Keloid scars are not really harmful but they can hurt, and they often itch quite badly too. They can generally affect all ages, though they do tend to affect people between the ages of ten, to twenty, and they affect both men and women equally. It is thought that darker skins have more of a chance of developing Keloid scars, and in some cases the condition can become so bad that it is disfiguring. So, it can be a potentially serious condition.

The Causes and Prevention of Keloid Scars
Keloid scars are most commonly found on people who have suffered from an injury such as a burn or severe acne. Instead of healing naturally, the scar tends to overfill with collagen and this in turn causes it to swell up and become enlarged.

It is not really known what causes Keloid scars, but surgery is often used to eliminate them. However, they do tend to reoccur and it is thought that genetics are to blame. Whilst the condition is not really harmful, if exposed to the sun, the Keloid scar can increase your chances of developing skin cancer.

The problem with surgery is that although it does remove the Keloid completely, as mentioned, the scar can return, and it often returns on the actual surgery scar that is left behind. They are mainly found on the chest, the back and the arms, and there are no known cures for the condition at the moment.

Some forms of treatment which may work include:

A Dressing
In some cases a dressing made up of silicone gel or silastic, are used and they have been known to reduce the Keloid over time.

Steroid Injections
If you have already had Keloid scars before, or if the Keloid has started to thicken, steroid injections may be helpful. A series of injections is usually given in the hope that it will reduce the size and the irritation of the scar, but this particular treatment is uncomfortable and often local anesthetic is needed for people over the age of sixteen, and full anesthetic is needed for people under the age of sixteen. Once the anesthetic wears off, the condition can become extremely painful so this is often not the most preferred type of treatment around!

Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is sometimes offered as an alternative to surgery and it works by producing a superficial peel. However, it does not tend to reduce the main bulk of the Keloid scar so it is not always very effective.

Surgery
The most effective form of Keloid scar removal is Surgery, however the surgeon does need to take extremely good care whilst removing the scar. If the Keloid does return after surgery, it is often larger. There is a forty five percent chance that the Keloid Scar will come back after surgery, though it is possible for surgery to be combined with other treatments, and that way there is less chance of the scars coming back.

Overall Keloid scars can be potentially painful, humiliating and extremely hard to eliminate. They are extremely rare and are mainly found in African and Asian skin types. It is thought that the condition is genetic and it is often found in families. You may need a doctor to properly diagnose the condition and inform you of the next steps in order to treat the condition if ended.

Scars are tissues that replace the normal skin after destruction of some dermis; it is a natural part of healing process. There are different degrees of scars depending on the depth and size of the wound, age, gender, genetics and ethnic.

There are some things we can do when we get scars to get them heal better and faster and make them lighter or even disappear.

Right after you get scares you can Smear Vitamin E Oil Caplets on the scarred area. That should do the job.

You can also, Smear some tea tree oil on the scar to help it heal faster.

What you need to do is try the remedies and choose the best that works for you. Everyone has different treatments that work for them because we all have different types of skin.

Here are some more options for you to try:

1. Put 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil on a cotton ball and apply on scar.
2. Rub some olive oil on scars 2-3 times a day.
3. Mix Aloe Vera and vitamin E gel caplets and apply to the scar.

There are also different types of scars. If you got an acne scar you can use this remedy that works well:

Mix 1 tablespoon of sour cream (0% fat for oily face), 1 tablespoon of yogurt, 1 tablespoon of grind oatmeal, and 3-4 drops of lemon juice. Apply on face, leave for 10 minutes and wash off.

Scars are a problem for all the people who wish to look young and smart. A scarred face always troubles us and affects our psychology. Talk to people affected by acne scars all over their face and you will realize the impact of scars on the self-esteem and confidence.
Skin treatment for scars may follow many procedures. That will depend on the age of the person, the location of the scar and the nature of the scar. If the scar is superficial, it can be treated with microdermabrasion or medium chemical peel, while a deeper scar will need more intensive treatments such as laser resurfacing or deep chemical peel. It is interesting to note that all of us have different scar forming tendency. Some of us form deeper scars compared to others who form mild scars for similar injury.
If the scar mixes with wrinkles it is less of a problem. But if it shows prominently on the cheek, one has to get it treated. Many methods are available for resurfacing the skin. All methods produce different results. The costs will be different and so will be the postoperative time of recovery. You have to therefore talk to your doctor about your scars and the treatment. Chemical peeling, dermabrasion, microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, surgical excision, are few of the techniques that are used to treat scars. You need not suffer scars. Consult your doctor and get treated.

Acne is a skin condition that most adolescents and even a few adults have to contend with. It is induced when somebody has dreadfully oily skin or when our hormones are changing and maximizing the production of oils in our skin. For most people the problem might be quite mild and affect us once every couple of months. But there are certain who have such intense breakouts that it might cause scars. There are many things that you can do to address acne scars. If you are inclined to breakouts, no matter how intense they are, you must understand how you are able to avoid them. There are certain things in which you are able to do and other things that you need to keep yourself from doing. With these tips you will not only help to prevent them – but also help them to heal faster. Treat Right Away This is the easiest tip that I am able to present to you and it can be the first thing that you do. Anytime you have a breakout you should apply the medication or over the counter treatment that you have bought. It may take a few days or weeks to go away – but at any rate you will be helping it to heal fast and avoid scarring. Anyone who has tough outbreaks should talk with their physician. The over the counter treatments are usually not enough and something stronger has to be given to you. Don’t Touch It Many individuals make the mistake of popping the pimples thinking in the hopes of preventing acne thinking that it can do away with them quicker. All you are doing is maximizing the infection and placing you at a higher risk of pitting. You should never scratch it, pop it, or touch it in anyways. This can force more dirt and oil onto it and prevent the treatment from functioning.

People can suffer from different Acne Types depending on their bodies. Learn ways in which you can Prevent Acne and scarring.

Those who have acne scars understand how difficult they are to live with. They can be little or large and cover a large portion of our faces. One of the more average treatments for acne scars is microdermabrasion. This is a medical procedure that is done by a dermatologist. Because it is a cosmetic surgery it is ordinarily not covered by insurance. A sitting of microdermabrasion will usually only last for 30 minutes and might be performed within the spa or doctor’s office. This treatment should not cause you any pain though it is able to be somewhat awkward in distinct regions.During this process the physician will utilize a vacuum like instrument that will spray tiny crystals over the scars. These crystals function to take away the dead skin cells that lie on the surface of the scars. When they are finished they will take away all of the crystals from the scars to avert further harm and an infection from happening.Because the dead skin cells are taken away the doctor has also removed a layer of protection from the surface of the skin that was treated. Because of this it will be more susceptible to things in the outside world. You will be required to add protection to the region with distinct moisturizers and sunscreens to avert sun damage and dry skin.

Before knowing various types of treatment methods to cure acne scars, you should first have a fairly good idea about the origin, causes and types of acne scars.

Acne is a serious skin condition which appears irrespective of any skin type, age or sex of a person. In many cases it heals without leaving any scars, but in cases of severe, cystic and inflamed acne permanent scars are often left out. Such scarring can give a very old look to your skin and the skin may also lose its elasticity over the time.

That is, the scars can also alter your mental as well as over all personality. Generally there are two causes of acne scars. The first is the increase in tissue formation due to collagen build up in the skin. They are also known as keloids scars. It is believe that keloid scars are generally genetical. The second cause is loss in tissue formation. Such scars are more common. Further there are several types of acne scars: ice pick scars, atrophic macules, superficial and deep soft scars and depressed fibrotic scars.

There are many popular methods to cure acne scars. 5 successful methods to cure acne scars are:

CHEMICAL PEELS: These peels are helpful for treating only the minor and small type of scars. They are neither helpful in treating icepick scars nor the deep rooted ones.

DERMABRASION: Dermabrasion is a highly developed method to treat the deep rooted acne scars and when combined with punch excision it can also treat the minor type of acne scars. In this method the skin is physically removed, so after the method you require appropriate rest.

LASER TREATMENT: This is a relatively newer method to treat acne scars but is very effective. Here light rays are passed on to your skin to kill the defective skin cells. The method is quite successful to treat even the complex type of scars.

COLLAGEN INJECTION: This treatment is basically meant for leveling the surface of the skin and bringing it to the normal level. It injects protein in the human body and thus fills the area left deep by a superficial type of acne.

AUTOLOGOUS FAT TRANSFER: Scars caused due to nodulocystic acne are treated by this method. Here fat from the other parts of the body are cut out and injected into those areas where deep wholes are left due to acne.

Acne is a very common skin disorder which has become problem for all ages. The teen years can be tough and sometimes even after passing those adolescent years acne may not leave you alone. After passing through that testing phase of acne you have to clear another milestone of the scars left behind due to acne. Acne may leave you at some point or other but the scars become very visible and your face is the one which gets most affected.

There are different types of acne scars which causes severe damage to your skin

Ice-pick scars are mainly seen on the cheek and are mostly small and can be shallow or deep. These can sometimes be hard or soft to touch. The soft scars can be worked upon by stretching and the same cannot be done to the hard ice-pick scars.

Depressed fibrotic scars in comparison to ice-pick scars are very large which has sharp edges and steep sides. The metamorphosis of ice-pick scars leads to depressed fibrotic scars with the passage of time.

Soft scars as the name suggest is soft to touch and like a mountain erupts from the skin. They are small, circular and very linear in shape.

Atrophic macules are small but when it happens to surfaces the face it becomes very big. Over a period of time they may turn blue and dry out to be less conspicuous.

Follicular macular atrophy is usually seen on the chest or back of a person. These look similar to whiteheads which can be seen slightly raised above the surface.

Home treatments to remove scars are

*Use of sandalwood paste on the scars can help in getting the scars fade away
*Sandalwood paste mixed with black gram paste also helps
*Rubbing ice cubes helps in tightening your skin and making it young
*Sandalwood paste mixed with rose water kept overnight on your scar also helps, if it does not make your skin dry
*Acne pores can be tightened by applying cucumber juice
*Rubbing sliced tomato on your skin helps in closing the open pores and saves you from oily skin
*The other treatment may include skin surgery, skin grafting and laser treatment too

Pimples have a way of showing up just when you do not want them too (not that anyone ever wants a pimple to show up in the first place). There is nothing quite like waking up in the morning and looking in the mirror to see a gigantic pimple on your face (most likely your nose).

The first thing that you might have a compulsion to so is to pick at that enormous pimple, but you should not, because it could lead to acne scarring. You can immediately tell when a person has become a victim of facial acne scarring, because there are pits in the upper epidermal layers that actually somewhat resemble small craters.

How does acne scarring happen when you pick at a pimple? First, it is important to understand what caused that pimple in the first place. Pimples can occur because of hormones, allergic reactions to things, or because of diet. They are basically small skin infections that the body tries to neutralize.

When a person tries to pop pimple to get rid of the pus material, the dirt and invisible bacteria under their nails interacts with the pimple, thus causing it to heal incorrectly. So, what is the best way to prevent acne scarring? The key is in cleaning the skin with a face was twice a day and just letting annoying pimples heal themselves. Those who already have scars because of their pimples should consult with a dermatologist, because the scars can be treated via various laser procedures.
